Both Mike and Jenny grew up in the Sauk Rapids area. After high school Mike went to work for North Central Bus and Equipment in St. Cloud as a school bus salesman, while Jenny assisted in connecting with customers. After being with North Central for 9-years we decided to move our family of five to Browerville to start our own company. Mike continued to work with North Central for five more years before retiring early.
We started Aksamit Transportation, Inc. in June of 2000. The doors of ATI opened when we took over operations from Jerry Zigan for the Browerville School District. We had a lot to learn about running a school bus company, and we owe a lot of our success in those early years to our drivers for teaching us how to navigate all of our rural roads.
We think of all of our employees as members of our Aksamit bus family. We started this company as a mom-and-pop business and continue to hold strong to those ideals, that every individual in our company brings value to the table and deserves to be treated as such. We wouldn't be able to be in this industry and run our business if it wasn't for all of our incredible employees!
